| Therapeutical
as well as general yoga is taught. Different practices
will be taught for patients suffering from different
problems like bronchial asthma, arthritis, spine related
problems, hypertension, diabetes etc. |
| The
class includes asanas(body exercises),pranayamas(breathing
exercises),meditation(mind exercises)&relaxation
methods. |
| The
class will be for an hour every day, for 5 days a week.
The patients have the freedom to select the time of
the class according to their convenience between 9am
to 7pm on all the week days. |
| Has
it been "proved" that Yoga is good for you? |
| Yes.
Western science has been studying Yoga for nearly 50
years, and the evidence shows numerous physical and
psychological benefits from Yoga. Interestingly, there
seems to be something about Yoga -- vs. exercise and
controlled breathing -- that is beneficial. For example,
a recent study with heart patients showed that those
who followed a stress reduction program that included
many Yoga practices did better than patients who exercised
or did nothing. Further, preliminary studies in the
United States and India suggest that Yoga maybe helpful
for specific conditions, such as asthma, epilepsy, anxiety,
stress and others. |

The yogic practices should be performed either in
the morning or in the evening.
- In
the morning yoga should be practiced before breakfast.

If you wish to practice yoga in the evening, the
best time is at least forty five minutes before
the evening meal.

Before you begin, it is better to wash the mouth&
attend to the morning needs of the body.

Bathing is not recommended immediately after yogic
practices.

If a light breakfast is taken, wait for at least
two hours.

After drinking any liquid wait for half an hour
before beginning the asanas.

If a full meal is taken, wait for at least four
hours.

Usually asanas are practiced only once in a day.

Dress should be loose to allow free movements of
the limbs

The ideal way to start yogic practices is to spread
the blanket on the floor, sit facing east or north
in the morning & west in the evening.
- Start
with a minute of silent prayer, open your eyes and
start the yogic practices in the sequence mentioned.

Pranayamas should follow the asanas & meditation
should follow the pranayamas.

Movements should be slow in every case. Sudden movements
should be avoided.
- If
you feel that you can’t bend a particular
part of the body, don’t force by swinging.

Bend to the extent you can and when you begin to
feel that strain, remain in that position without
trying to bend any further. Remain in that state
for about the time noted in the instruction.

No change in the diet is needed, if your usual diet
agrees with you.
